Quality Tool Service, Incorporated began in 1975 as RW Tool Service. For $12,000, Harold Slates Sr. purchased R.W. Tool Service. The purchase included two KO Lee grinding machines, one craftsman lathe, and one small drill press. These four machines were just enough to support two customers.
At the time, Harold was running his business out of a one car garage on Mosley St. during the day and then reporting to a full time second shift job in the evenings. His hard-work, dedication, and vision for the future kept the business growing.
In 1996, business outgrew the garage and moved into a larger building where business continued to flourish. In 1997, Harold changed the business name to Quality Tool Service Incorporated and it was only 3 years later that he moved the company into the larger building that it is in today.
To accommodate for the continuous growth, the building was expanded in 2012. Quality Tool Service has always been, and still is, a family operated business, as Harold has three sons, Harold Jr, Robert, and Kirk Sr., who all worked alongside him.
In 2012, Harold sold Quality Tool Service to them and the three ran the shop together for 8 years until Kirk took on sole ownership at the start of 2021. From four machines to over forty, and two customers to over 275, Quality Tool Service continues to thrive today.
